Ignition Coil for Magneto Ignition System for Kohler K141, K161, K181, K241, K301 Engine

I finally got around to installing this coil on my K301, and due to the taller engine cylinder the plug wire is 2” short. I had to splice it which I didn’t really want to do but had no other options. The other wires are fine on length. Norman should see if the manufacturer can make a coil for K301 with longer plug wire (2-3”).

This magneto ignition coil was perfect fit on my K181. What I like about it is that I didn’t have to splice any wires. Great product and I even ordered a spare to have as I have several kohler K series engines. Just wished it included a spark plug boot but that’s not a big deal.

It worked fine on my 1968 Gravely 424, only problem is the spark plug wire needs to be a couple inches longer, it just barely hooked up with 0 wiggle room.

This coil was the right size for my thirty eight year old troybilt 8 HP Kohler engine, wire length was spot on

Picked up an old troy horse with a 7 hp Kohler K161 that had no spark. Found the wire for the points and condenser had been butchered and was bad all the way to the coil. Was recommended isavetractors and purchased this coil. The coil fit great and the old Kohler fired right up!

The spark plug wire is 2 inches to short for a k301. I just had to splice the wire.

As expected, some inventiveness required particularly for low side wire which is short, required splicing/shrink wrap insulation and careful routing on low side as location differed from orig, but no issue. Low side resistance ca 1.5 ohms, high side about 5k. No problem fitting to core. Works fine.
