Replace Those Ignition Switches!
You found that perfect old tractor. You hauled it home.
Now what?
Here is one of the first items I recommend you to replace: The ignition key switch.
Chances are that old garden tractor you just brought has been sitting outside in the weather for more than a decade. rain, moisture and time wreak havoc on electrical components.
When the terminals in the ignition switch get too corroded it increases the electrical resistance. This will start giving you all kinds of problems with the starting, ignition and accessory systems.
Below is a photo that I pulled from an old Vintage Garden Tractor. As you can see the condition of the terminals are not acceptable.
Now the next photo is of a brand new ignition switch. Big difference!
It's an easy part to replace and will get your Vintage Garden Tractor Restoration off to a good start!
We sell Ignition Switches for old Tractors running battery ignition systems. You can find there here.
More tips next week.
Thank you for saving the Tractors!
